<p>If you wake up tired after sleeping for eight hours or longer, more sleep is not what you need. A better quality of sleep is what&#8217;s needed rather than more sleep. Deep sleep is the most important type of sleep our body needs.</p>
<p>What is sleep?</p>
<p>Sleep was long considered just a block of time when you are not awake. But sleep studies done over the past several decades, have discovered that sleep has distinctive stages that cycle throughout the night. </p>
<p>Your brain stays active throughout sleep, but different things happen during each stage.</p>
<p>For instance, in one stage, you feel well rested and energetic the next day, and in another stage you learn or make memories.</p>
<p>During a normal night, people usually cycle through the various stages several times.</p>
<p>How much sleep is enough?</p>
<p>Sleep needs vary from person to person. These needs vary throughout the lifecycle.</p>
<p>Most adults need 7-8 hours of sleep each night.Newborns sleep between 16 and 18 hours a day. Children in preschool sleep between 10 and 12 hours a day.</p>
<p>However, some individuals are able to function without sleepiness or drowsiness after as little as six hours of sleep. Others can&#8217;t perform at their peak unless they&#8217;ve slept ten hours.</p>
<p>Some people believe that adults need less sleep as they get older. But there is no evidence to show that older people can get by with less sleep than younger people. </p>
<p>Older people are also more easily awakened.Research suggests that a lot of people can be reassured that six or seven hours sleep is okay. The acid test for enough sleep is whether you are sleepy or alert throughout the day. </p>
<p>If you are alert, then your sleep is probably adequate. But sleep is more important than you may think.</p>
<p>Why sleep is good for you?</p>
<p>Does it really matter if you get enough sleep? Yes. Both quantity &#038; quality of sleep matter, but the quality of your sleep is important as well.</p>
<p>In other words, how well rested you are and how well you function the next day depend on your total sleep time and how much of the various stages of sleep you get each night.</p>
<p>Performance: We need sleep to think clearly, react quickly, and create memories. In fact, the pathways in the brain that help us learn and remember are very active when we sleep.</p>
<p>Skimping on sleep has a price. Cutting back by even 1 hour can make it tough to focus the next day and can slow your response time.</p>
<p>Studies also find that when you lack sleep, you are more likely to make bad decisions and take more risks. This can result in lower performance on the job or in school and a greater risk for a car crash.</p>
<p>Mood: Sleep also affects mood. Insufficient sleep can make you irritable and is linked to poor behavior and trouble with relationships, especially among children and teens.</p>
<p>Health: Sleep is also important for good health. Studies show that not getting enough sleep or getting poor quality sleep on a regular basis increases the risk of having high blood pressure, heart disease, and other medical conditions.</p>
<p>In addition, during sleep, your body produces valuable hormones. Deep sleep triggers more release of growth hormone, which fuels growth in children, and helps build muscle mass and repair cells and tissues in children and adults.</p>
<p>Another type of hormone that increases during sleep works to fight various infections. This might explain why a good night&#8217;s sleep helps keep you from getting sick and helps you recover when you do get sick.</p>
<p>The Different Stages of Sleep<br />
<br />Sleep consists of different stages.</p>
<p>Stage one: First ten-minute period of light sleep (drifting off from wakefulness) is stage 1.</p>
<p>Stage Two: It is deeper and it lasts about 20 minutes.</p>
<p>Stages Three and Four: These come after this, and are types of deep sleep.</p>
<p>Stage 1: Stage 1 is an initial period of sleep. It is also called as non- REM (REM - rapid eye movement) sleep. In this period you &#8220;drift off&#8221;.<br />
<br />Typical characteristics of Stage 1 NREM Sleep are:<br />
<br /> Breathing becomes slow and even<br />
<br /> The heartbeat becomes regular</p>
<p>Stage 2: It is an intermediate stage of sleep. It lasts about twenty minutes. You gradually descend deeper into sleep, becoming more and more detached from the outside world.</p>
<p>Stage 2 is characterized by:<br />
<br /> Larger brain waves and occasional quick bursts of activity.<br />
<br /> You will not see anything even if the eyes are open.</p>
<p>Stage 3: It is the beginning of deep sleep. It lasts for about thirty to forty five minutes after you first fall asleep.</p>
<p>Stage 3 is characterized by:<br />
<br /> Brain waves are slow (at the rate of 0.5 to 4 per second) and quite large (five times the size of waves in Stage 2). These brain waves are known as delta waves.<br />
<br /> You are far more difficult to awaken as compared to stage 1 or 2 sleep. It takes a louder noise or an active attempt to wake you up.</p>
<p>Stage 4: The deepest sleep occurs in Stage 4.It is characterized by:</p>
<p> The brain waves (called delta brain waves) are quite large, making a slow, jagged pattern on the EEG.<br />
<br /> The sleeper experiences virtual oblivion. If the sleeper is a sleepwalker or a bed wetter, those activities will begin in this phase.<br />
<br /> Bodily functions continue to decline to the deepest possible state of physical rest.<br />
<br /> This first period of deep sleep is the deepest. The sleeper awakened from deep sleep will probably be groggy, confused, or disoriented. He or she may experience &#8220;sleep inertia&#8221; or &#8220;sleep drunkenness,&#8221; seeming unable to function normally for quite some time.</p>
<p>After the first phase of deep sleep ends, the sleeper returns to Stage 2 and then enters the REM state.</p>
<p>REM Sleep Stage</p>
<p>When you enter the REM stage, your brain suddenly becomes much more active.</p>
<p>Characteristics of REM State :<br />
<br />Brain waves are small and irregular, with big bursts of eye activity. The brain wave activity at this time resembles waking more than it does sleeping.</p>
<p>The four NREM phases are characterized by progressive relaxation. But during REM phase, the body&#8217;s activity perks up considerably.</p>
<p> Blood pressure may increase drastically.<br />
<br /> Pulse rates increase in an irregular way<br />
<br /> Breathing becomes irregular and oxygen consumption increases.<br />
<br /> The face, toes and fingers may twitch.</p>
<p>The first REM period is usually brief. After this, the sleeper may wake up briefly. This is quite normal. A good sleeper may not remember it the next day. A poor sleeper, however, may wake up at this point and have difficulty getting back to sleep.</p>
<p>Deep Sleep</p>
<p>Deep Sleep has been shown to relieve symptoms of insomnia, nervous tension, panic, anxiety and depression. Deep sleep is essential for replenishing our bodies and minds.</p>
<p>During deep sleep the body heals itself by producing growth hormone that speeds the absorption of nutrients and amino acids to aid the healing of tissues.</p>
<p>Deep sleep is crucial for physical renewal, hormonal regulation, and growth. Deep sleep is the part of sleep that our body and brain needs to recover from the day. It&#8217;s sometimes called delta sleep, after the delta waves the brain generates.</p>
<p>Deep sleep is our restorative sleep, during which our bodies repair themselves and are rejuvenated from the wear and tear of the day. Deep sleep is a lot more peaceful and restful.</p>
<p>Deep sleep is also a period of dramatically reduced blood flow and energy use for the brain, which is probably crucial for restoring energy that is used during the daily demands of self-conscious awareness (e.g., thinking).</p>
<p>It is very hard to wake up from deep sleep because the brain has turned off its awareness of the external world. Deep sleep is the deepest of all the stages. Above all, physical regeneration occurs during this stage.</p>
<p>How to get a good night&#8217;s sleep?<br />

<br />11.	Relax before going to bed. Take time to unwind. Have some ritual before going to bed: Read, meditate, listen to soft &#038; soothing music.<br />
<br />12.	See a doctor if you continue to have trouble sleeping. Your family doctor should be able to help you.</p>

<p>Rhinoplasty Procedures</p>
<p>There are two types of rhinoplasty procedures.  The first type is known as an open procedure.  With an open procedure, a minor incision is made between the nostrils, enabling them to lift that portion of nasal skin off the nose for better visibility of the cartilage and bone.  This procedure gives the surgeon more control over the patient&#8217;s nose because they are able to see the bone and cartilage.  An open rhniplasty will leave a scar; however, for a skilled surgeon the scar will not be visible from a standard viewing distance.</p>
<p>The other type is closed rhinoplasty, where incisions are made on the inside of the nose, thus concealing any evidence of surgery.  However, in some cases your surgeon may not be able to get to the target areas in order to perform the surgery sufficiently.  </p>
<p>There are advantages and disadvantages of either type of rhinoplasty surgery.  Therefore, it is necessary to consult with your surgeon to determine which type would be best suited for your situation.</p>
<p>Finding the Right Surgeon</p>
<p>Although nose shaping has been around for many decades, it does require incredible ability by the surgeon.  Your doctor should have the proper certification and experience necessary to perform the given procedure.  </p>
<p>Interview at least two or three plastic surgeons, he, or she should be board certified, and have a minimum of 5 years experience.  During the consultation, ask how many rhinoplasties they have done in the last year, consider how well the doctor listen to your ideas, ask to see examples of their work and what can they do for you.</p>
<p>Likewise, if you are going to have general anesthesia, be sure the American Board of Anesthesiology has certified your anesthesiologist.  In addition, make sure that you can be rapidly admitted to a nearby quality hospital in the event of unforeseen complications.  </p>

<p>Rhinoplasty is usually not covered by insurance unless the procedure is performed for medical reasons, e.g. birth defect, or accident. <p>Complications</p>
<p>If you are careful and selective about whom you choose for your surgeon, anesthesiologist, and of course operating facility, there is only a less than 5% chance of any complications.  </p>
<p>However, a possible risk you will need to consider and accept before having cosmetic nose surgery is revision rhinoplasty.  First, because nose surgery is a difficult procedure and secondly, following the surgery your nose can change in ways which cannot be predicted beforehand.  It is recommended to wait at least one year if a revision rhinoplasty is needed.</p>
<p>Recovery </p>
<p>A splint is applied to the top of the nose to keep it in place while healing and gauze packing is inserted for a couple of days to protect the septum from moving and minimizing bleeding.  The splint is usually removed within a week.  </p>
<p>Anti-inflammatory medication and a painkiller are prescribed for swelling and discomfort, as well as an antibiotic to prevent infection.  You should also apply ice, elevate the head, and avoid blowing your nose and wearing eyeglasses.  </p>

<p>Both men and women live hectic pace of life today. They try to balance the demands at work as well as at home. They try to balance limited means (time, money &#038; resources) &#038; unlimited demands. The inability to balance these expresses itself in terms of stress, anxiety and tensions.</p>
<p>Stress, fear, anger, guilt, anxiety, jealousy etc are negative emotions which have a definite impact on our body.</p>
<p>Suffering brings disease &#038; contentment brings good health.</p>
<p>Stress hampers the function of immune system. Psychological stress activates the adrenal glands to discharge stress hormones called cartisol.</p>
<p>Temporarily it relieves us from stress but in the long run it affects our health. Stress results in diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, ulcers, cancer, depression etc.</p>
<p>Stress &#038; Digestion</p>
<p>Our thoughts have profound effects on our digestion. Body can assimilate nutrients from food only if you eat in a relaxed environment. Your state of mind is a critical factor at mealtimes.</p>
<p>Treat meal times as sacred. Follow your hunger signals. Eat only upto  th of your eating capacity to ensure proper digestion.</p>

<p>Researchers have found out that various options are available for the stress relief. Two simplest methods are: A balanced nutritious food and simple deep breathing exercises. Vitamins and minerals in food help reduce stress. </p>

<p>Breakfast has a special place in daily cycle. Early in the morning after 8 to 10 hour&#8217;s of sleep, body is in need of good nutrition. </p>

<p>Deep Breathing</p>
<p>Taking a deep breath is deeply relaxing. It is said that most of us use about 20 to 30 % of our natural lung capacity.</p>
<p>The breathing activity transports oxygen to different parts of body &#038; help eliminate waste products.<br />
<br />Deep breathing increases oxygen supply to body. Each &#038; everybody cell requires oxygen for its functioning &#038; deep breathing helps to augment that. </p>
<p>Body is full of energy if you practice deep breathing. Stress is reduced.<br />
<br />Practice: Take a deep breath. Count upto 3 to 6 counts. </p>
<p>Try to fill full capacity of lungs. Release breath for equal counts, without holding your breath. (E.g. If you have counted 5 while taking breath in, count 5 for exhaling). </p>
<p>Do 5 rounds initially. Go upto 10 rounds after some practice. Practice deep breathing (5 to 10 rounds at a time) whenever you feel stressed. You will feel relaxed.</p>
<p>Relaxation reduces stress.</p>
<p>Sleep &#038; keep stress away</p>
<p>Allow yourself to sleep at least for 8 hours. This gives your body and its metabolic processes time to recover. It re-energizes your body. Severe sleep deprivation leads to psychosis.</p>
<p>Try a glass of warm milk at bed time &#8212; age-old grandmother&#8217;s remedy &#8212; to keep insomnia away.</p>
<p>Think positive to de-stress</p>
<p>Vegetables and fruits have a cleansing effect on your body. Similarly positive attitude has a cleansing effect on your mind. Keep away negative feelings like &#8212; hatred, jealousy, greed anger etc &#8212; by maintaining a positive attitude.</p>
<p>The outside world is full of challenges and uncertainty. Completely eliminating stress may not be possible, so goal could be &#8212; reduce stress, manage stress and stay calm.</p>

<p>Thanks to easy media access, little girls today are much more fashion conscious than their mothers were, and even if your teen or pre teen is a camo pants wearing, mud playing, bundle of energy, it is just as important for her to have the right hair cut now as it will be in a few years when she becomes even more fashion conscious. </p>
<p>Depending on the age of your young girl, you should allow her to help you decide the hair length that is right for her. Long hair on little girls is classic, but if she has thick or very fine hair, this can be difficult to maintain. For older girls maybe nine and under this should not be a problem, but the younger ones will more than likely require a little help.<br />
<br />For medium hair styles the graduated layer look is easy to care for and style.  </p>
<p>It requires minimal care and looks very cute, especially on little girls with thick hair, as the ends can be razored back to reduce bulk and define the layers. A little gel, brushed through the hair in the morning help to keep layers defined, and a spritz pomade will make sure that her hair stays brilliantly beautiful even when she is hanging upside down on the monkey bars.</p>
<p>For long hair styles girls with very fine hair require constant trims to keep it looking sleek, but most girls, including those with very thick hair, look adorable with a long look. The trick is, again, to add layers to the back but not too many, maybe one or two, to reduce the bulk and keep hair looking fresh between trims.  </p>

<br />Okra is a green vegetable, that kind of looks like a cross of a pepper and zucchini. The vegetable is filled with Mucilage, which is great for soothing sore throats. Cut about 10 grams of Okra and boil them in about 1 liter of water. After the water boils you can inhale the steam and drink the water. The water will look oily. This oil is what sooths your sore throat.</p>

<br />After the fever goes down it is permissible for the patient to resume eating solid foods, but it is best to stick with fruits, vegetables seeds and nuts, and avoid things like dairy and meats for the first day or two.</p>

<br />All of the remedies so far have been ways to relieve the effects of the cold, but this remedy is aimed at curing the entire cold. The Bitter Gourd Root is made into a past and mixed with homey. Take a tablespoon of the mixture every night for 30 days to rid yourself of the cold germs and to help rebuild your immune system.</p>

<br />This cure will cure everything that ails you. It will rid you of all the suffering from sore throats congestion and runny nose. For this cure you want to buy the turmeric root in a powder form. Pour half a teaspoon of the turmeric root powder into a pot with 1 cup of milk and bring t a boil. When the mixture begins to boil, deeply inhale the steam. Then allow the milk to cool slightly and drink this twice a day. In just a few days you will feel better.</p>

It is true that ending the relationship is probably the nastiest and the most hurtful scenario in a romantic relationship. Nobody wants their hearts to be broken, and no one can really tell what it feels like unless they are or have been in that situation already. </p>
<p>Yes, going through a bad relationship is tough, and lucky and brave are those who survive it. Unlucky, however, for those who suffer from heart attacks because of a broken heart.  </p>
<p>According to a recent study in Europe, it has been observed among thousands of British civilians that it is possible for an individual to have a series of heart attacks due to a painful and traumatic breakup experience. Experts who conducted the study claimed that stress and anxiety brought by a painful and traumatic end of a relationship can significantly increase a person&#8217;s risk in having or developing heart diseases.  </p>
<p>Results of the study showed that an individual&#8217;s heart condition is not just determined by means of physical condition. It can also be influenced by the emotional stability or condition of a person. Therefore, an individual who has a happy and fulfilling relationship is less likely to develop coronary heart disease compared to the ones who are unlucky in love.  </p>
<p>To spare your already bruised heart from added pain and trauma, the following are some ways on how to avoid developing heart diseases due to emotional heart issues: </p>
<p>   1. Talk to someone about your feelings.</p>
<p>When a relationship ends, the women are usually the most emotional ones. They tend to relay the whole breakup episode to their girlfriends or relatives. The men, however, are less vocal about their emotions. With this, doctors often recommend male patients to find someone whom they can share their feelings with. Support from people who can understand what you&#8217;re going through can surely ease your emotions and heart pains. </p>
<p>   2. Slowly acknowledge the fact that the relationship is over.</p>
<p>It is normal to feel hurt and betrayed once a relationship ends. However, the world will not stop and grieve at your lose. Move on. Accept the fact that the relationship is over and get on living your life. Although the process of moving on is hard, acceptance helps in keeping the mind and emotions calm after a hard and painful experience.<br />
<br />    3. Go see a doctor when the pain progresses from emotional to physical instability.</p>
<p>Based on the recent study mentioned above, a person who is extremely heartbroken can die because of heart attack. So, if you feel that the emotional pain and stress are too much for you to bear any longer that it comes to the point when your health also suffers, go see your doctor to confirm your condition.</p>
<p>Although having an emotional breakdown is not just the only factor for developing heart diseases, it is better to let your doctor know and check your condition once heartaches turn to &#8220;literal heart pains&#8221;.</p>

Positive stressors, or eustress, are situations that are perceived to be happy or good, such as weddings,  childbirth or big family holidays. Negative stressors, or distress, are situations that are traumatizing or unhappy, such as the death of a loved one or an accident. But whether the situation is positive or negative,  this rate of wear and tear we subject ourselves to eventually takes its toll on our bodies, and how we deal with the stress is important.</p>
<p>We are all subjected to stress on a daily basis, largely as a consequence of modern life, when we are caught up in the daily grind of work, family, and routine tasks. But its effects on our bodies differ greatly from person to person, largely dependent on the amount of stress we have in our lives and how we handle it. This is evident in the rising number of health problems that can be directly or indirectly attributed to stress, manifesting itself in any number of physical or psychological symptoms. These symptoms are often ignored until it seriously affects our health and wellbeing. </p>
<p>Work stress is incredibly insidious. The pressure to outperform colleagues and attain higher positions, higher salaries and bigger bonuses has become the priority for many people in their desire to reach the American dream. And while pressure is part and parcel of all work and helps to keep us motivated, excessive amounts can lead to stress. This undermines individual performance and productivity, and is costly to employers when the employees become ill.</p>
<p>Surprisingly, stress can easily be avoided by using the power of one word: No. Many of us often try to cram too many activities into our schedules into too little time, leaving us too exhausted to do justice to any of those aforementioned activities. We must teach ourselves to say no without feeling guilty, and learn to delegate tasks to others. The job may not be done the way that you envisioned it would be, but that doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean that it was done poorly. Saying no means that we get to concentrate on the thing at hand, and by doing so, successfully accomplishing the task. </p>
<p>It may be difficult to say no at first, but it is infinitely better than gaining a reputation for letting people down. Prioritizing and letting go of tasks lets us avoid the pitfalls of being overextended and stressed out. We must weigh our options carefully and ask ourselves if the doing the activity is worth the stress it may add to your life. Is it a long-term or short-term commitment? </p>
<p>There is no need to lie when saying no. There is no shame in admitting that you have more than enough on your plate. Lying and making up bogus excuses will only complicate matters, and when your lie is discovered, people will begin labeling you as a slacker. Practice full disclosure, and be diplomatic.</p>

But with the advent of modern medicine, people became more aware of scientific means of diagnosing and treating illnesses. Medications, or drugs prepared in laboratories, are widely used for their convenience and effectiveness. For many years, we have used different kinds of medications in order to ease and alleviate the pain we feel in our bodies. It has become a necessity for each home to have at least a couple of basic medications for cough and colds, fever and flu, headaches, and so on. Having these medications at hand can prevent further aggravation of an ailment when dealing with hospitals, drugstores, and doctors.</p>
<p>	An interesting kind of drug medication would be the class of psychoactive medication. Also called psychotropic substances, this specific drug is a chemical substance that acts on a person&#8217;s central nervous system wherein it alters the brain&#8217;s function, causing short term changes with regards to a person&#8217;s mood, perception, consciousness, and behavior. These drugs can be used recreationally (entheogens) for ritual and spiritual purposes, or therapeutically for medication. Since this would be the only kind of medication that can be used for recreation, it can sometimes be abused because of the mind altering effect that it can bring, making the person feel more pleasant as he was before.</p>
<p>	But in a more medical sense, psychoactive medication are often helpful in treating psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, among many others. Although these psychoactive drugs do not affect the underlying cause of these disorders, they can serve symptomatic relief for patients who wants to live a normal life.</p>
<p>	Anxiety is seen as the continuous tension, nervousness, or panic caused by stress or any other psychological causes. This disorder is seen in many, and is often resolved by taking psychoactive medication. Anti anxiety drugs are used to give relaxation or to reduce the physical symptoms of anxiety, such as shaking and palpitations. Causing such relaxation and sedation, a certain class of psychoactive medication called &#8220;benzodiazepines&#8221; are included in anxiety medications that depress the person&#8217;s central nervous system. &#8220;Beta blockers&#8221; also contribute to these medications, allowing the suppression of physical symptoms. Having depression can interfere with a person&#8217;s daily activities, and when this situation starts to stay there for a time, a person may need medical help. Psychoactive medications can be appropriate for this kind of disorder. Antidepressants would be the specific kind of medication, offering the increase of the neurotransmitters&#8217; level in the brain. More often than not, it takes some time (from six to eight weeks) before these antidepressants take effect. </p>
<p>	When a person has trouble sleeping, they may be experiencing insomnia. Both anxiety and depression can cause insomnia, among many others. When this specific cause is known and treated, the person&#8217;s sleep patterns generally return to normal. When insomnia gets persistent, sleeping pills may be appropriate. Most sleeping pills cause sedation by depressing the central nervous system (more likely as those of anxiety medications). Although a person can sleep while under these medications, the sleep induced by the drug will not be the same as of natural sleep, since the drug suppresses brain activity.</p>
<p>	These are just examples of how psychoactive medications are commonly used in our everyday lives. It is important to know and be well-informed about every aspect of the medication, to prevent any side effects, withdrawal symptoms, and any negative impact on the body and brain itself.</p>

There is always such a sense of panic and fear that sends people running to get their flu shot. I&#8217;m always the &#8220;odd man out&#8221;, for I go running in the opposite direction. The toxins in the vaccines create side effects for some that are as bad as or worse than the flu such as muscle aches, sore throat, fever, chills, congestion, sneezing and headache. There are many undesirable ingredients in the flu vaccine that we don&#8217;t hear much about such as Triton X-100 (a detergent); Polysorbate 80 (a potential carcinogen); formaldehyde (a known carcinogen); Aluminum (linked to Alzheimer&#8217;s disease) and Thimerosal, (a mercury based preservative) which is being investigated for its link to brain injury, memory loss, Alzheimer&#8217;s disease and autoimmune diseases. Hugh Fundenberg, MD an immuno- geneticist and biologist with nearly 850 papers published in peer review journals, has reported that if an individual had 5 consecutive flu shots between 1970 and 1980 (the years studied), his or her chances of getting Alzheimer&#8217;s Disease is 10 times higher than if they had 1 or 2 flu shots due to the mercury content. Autism is also being linked to vaccinations due to the mercury. Many doctors of natural medicine believe that and vaccines are &#8220;quick fixes&#8221; that suppress and or destroy our own immunity leaving humanity as sitting ducks for new strains of pathogens which mutate faster than the vaccines are produced. By the time one gets the flu shot, there will be newly mutated strains that will not be covered with the current shot. It will be covered in next years shot, but the same cycle will occur.</p>
<p>Whether one chooses the flu shot or not, there are safe and effective ways to build immunity and ward off the flu as well as other respiratory problems. The obvious is to eat a healthy diet eliminating or greatly reducing; soda&#8217;s, refined flour, sugar and artificial sweeteners (including sucralose), alcohol, caffeine and tobacco. Exercise regularly, obtain adequate sleep and drink plenty of purified water. The Center of Disease Control states that dirty hands are the leading cause of spreading disease and advises that all adults and children wash their hands with soap and water many times throughout the day.</p>
<p>There are nutritional supplements that specifically support the immune system. There are popular homeopathic flu remedies such as Oscillococcinum by Boiron that can be taken as a preventative; just a few pellets under the tongue 3 times a week. Silver water in the form of colloidal or ionized silver has been used for centuries and has anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. A teaspoon a day may be used as prevention during flu season. My favorite brand is Silver Biotics Concentrated oil of Mediterranean wild oregano has been proven to have anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and may be consumed at 5-10 drops a few times a day with food. Elderberry is a popular anti-viral herb that is sometimes traded under the name of Sambucol.  There are many effective immune enhancing formulas which contain many vitamins, minerals, herbs and homeopathics that target immune system support. Some of these nutrients include; colostrum, goldenseal, echinacea, elderberry, zinc, astragalus, garlic, olive leaf, silver, vitamins A,B,C, E, and so on.<br />

Common cold occurs more often than any other disease hence, its name. There are approximately 200 viruses that can cause a cold. Most colds are caused by rhinoviruses (the name comes from &#8220;rhin,&#8221; the Greek word for nose) that are in invisible droplets in the air we breathe or on the things we touch. Aside from rhinoviruses, there are more than 100 subtypes that cause up to half of all colds. They can infiltrate the protective lining of the nose and throat, triggering an immune system reaction that can lead to sore throat, headache, and experience difficulty breathing through the nose. A common cold results from exposure to the virus. Infections are spread from one person to another, by hand-to-hand contact, or by a cough or sneeze that sprays many virus particles into the air. Its intensity, however, depends upon the state of health of the person and environmental factors. </p>
<p>The common cold (also called viral rhinitis) is a viral infection, characterized by nasal congestion, a clear, runny nose, sneezing, scratchy throat and general malaise. Low vitality, exposure to cold, lack of sleep, depression, fatigue, and factors such as sudden changes in temperature, dust, and other irritating inhalations are important contributory causes.</p>
<p>Normally, common cold symptoms can be treated at home. Antibiotics are not prescribed because they do not work against viruses, however, if the cold leads to complications such as sinusitis, ear infection, tonsilitis, or chronic bronchitis, a physician may prescribe antibiotics. Moreover, a person in good health who becomes the victim of a cold may not need to see a doctor.</p>
<p>To relieve the symptoms of a cold, the following self-care advice may be helpful:<br />
<br />Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids to keep yourself hydrated. This is especially important for children. Water is best, but warm drinks can be soothing.<br />
<br />Rest and avoid stress and strenuous activity.<br />
<br />Keep the room at a comfortable temperature, but make sure that fresh air is circulating.<br />
<br />Smoke irritates the nose and throat. Try to avoid being around people who smoke and avoid smoke-filled environments like pubs or clubs. If you are a smoker, try to smoke as little as possible while you are feeling unwell,</p>
<p>If common cold is accompanied with coughing, a cough medicine may help to soothe a ticklish or dry cough. Over-the-counter products available from the local pharmacist are often sold as combined remedies for treating a cough and cold.  Preparations may contain several ingredients and it should always follow the manufacturers instructions to make sure one is taking the right dosage for the symptoms. As so many different viruses can cause the common cold, no vaccination against it has yet been developed. However, there are some things one can do to help prevent it from spreading:</p>
<p>Wash your hands regularly and properly, especially after touching your nose or mouth and before handling food.</p>
<p>Always sneeze and cough into tissues. This should help prevent the virus-containing droplets from your nose and mouth entering the air where they can infect others. Throw away used tissues immediately and then wash your hands.</p>
<p>Do not share cups or kitchen utensils with others. Use your own cup, plates and cutlery.</p>
<p>If a cold becomes nasty, like if a person develops chest pain or starting to experience difficulty in breathing, immediately seek medical attention.  A doctor will likely examine the throat and ears, and the doctor may take a throat culture by brushing your throat with a long cotton-tipped swab. This will show whether a person has a bacterial infection, which requires treatment with antibiotics. Otherwise a person battling a common cold, can treat all the symptoms at home.</p>

Is it just teenage behavior or school pressure that is making them act &#8220;strange&#8221;? It can be confusing to watch someone and be uncertain about their behavior.</p>
<p>There are certain physical manifestations one can look for when someone is involved with cocaine addiction but what of the behavior manifestations? One thing to realize is that anyone using drugs - even medical ones - is that the majority of them have a mental affect as well. Basically, the drugs throw you out of present time into something else that your mind gets stuck on.</p>
<p>A person who is suffering from cocaine addiction can appear to be in the same room as you are, doing the same things as you are but he&#8217;s only partially there. There&#8217;s often a sort of glazed look about their eyes and they can appear to be a bit like a robot.</p>
<p>He&#8217;s there physically but he isn&#8217;t tracking with what&#8217;s going on. He does not &#8220;get&#8221; what you&#8217;re saying and when you tell him to take out the garbage, he may pick up the broom and start sweeping. If you scold him he thinks you&#8217;re crazy because he&#8217;s supposed to sweep. It all looks odd. It is odd to you. He&#8217;s just not tracking. It appears that he hears what you&#8217;re saying but when you look he&#8217;s doing something completely different.</p>
<p>If there&#8217;s some kind of team effort going on and everyone else is working on a project together, he gets in the way and does very odd things. You ask him to pass the hammer and he comes back with a spoon, or something equally inappropriate.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not that he doesn&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going on around him. It&#8217;s just that he believes that everyone else is stupid or unreasonable and don&#8217;t know what they&#8217;re doing. Because they&#8217;re not doing what he can &#8220;see&#8221; is supposed to be going on, everyone else is crazy. And, to be sure, you could easily start to believe that you&#8217;re losing it.</p>
<p>The end result is that anything you give someone who is under cocaine addiction to do has to be corrected by others and this can consume an awful lot of time. Imagine how that would affect a company and its production.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re still trying to determine if your loved one is addicted to cocaine or not, these are additional things to look out for in their behavior. If you already know they&#8217;re addicted, then action is required immediately. The cost in despair and relationships - never mind the financial - can be very expensive if cocaine addiction is not dealt with speedily.</p>
<p>Fortunately, there is a solution and cocaine addiction can be fully overcome. The only criteria are that a program that gets excellent results is found. How do you find one like that when there are so many of them? You ask questions.</p>
<p>The first question should be, &#8220;What are your results?&#8221; Ask for references and speak to others who have done their program. Find out if their methods are authoritarian, if they use any form of drug to get people off drugs, do they go through a full detoxification program. With cocaine addiction, the body stores particles of cocaine in the fatty tissue, along with other toxins. If these residues are not removed and the fatty tissue cleaned up, the person can revert to cocaine addiction in a week, a month, even years and years later.</p>
<p>The final question to ask is what they do to get your loved rehabilitated. This is apart from the physical rehabilitation and is a very key part of any program. He has to get full understanding of his own problem and why he became addicted in order to effect recovery and this needs to be done without anyone else interjecting their opinions. </p>
<p>He is the only one that knows after all. His rehabilitation and full recovery of his willpower is so dependent on this point that anything else will just continue to keep him in a position where he is subjected to the will of others and you want him to be able to say &#8220;NO!&#8221;</p>

Daily injections of Epogen, a medication for the treatment of severe anemia, was given Fagan.  However, there was no improvement in his red blood cell count.  Moreover, the teen-ager would always complain of severe and painful muscle cramps everytime an injection was administered.   Doctors were left in a quandary as to why the medication was not working.   It took almost two months before the news broke out that the medication being adminitered was a counterfeit.  </p>
<p>This wasn&#8217;t a case of a drug that was bought from a local drugstore but from a major natonal pharmacy chain.  Something happened somewhere after the drug left the manufacturing company and before it&#8217;s arrival at the pharmacy.  Some unscrupulous moneymakers had taken the low-dose vials of Epogen which cost $22 and relabeled them as high-dose versions to be sold at $455.  About 110,000 fake vials made it to the market netting the counterfeiters a whopping $48 million.</p>
<p>You could only imagine the great danger this malpractice had posed in the health condition and life of Tim as well as the stress and anxiety experienced by the boy&#8217;s parents upon learning of the situation.</p>
<p>Inspite of the Food and Drug Administration&#8217;s assurance that the country&#8217;s pharmaceutical drug supply is the safest in the world, the increase in the incidents of fake drug seizures and apprehensions has resulted in heightened anxiety and distrust among consumers regarding the safety and genuineness of medicines being sold in the pharmacy.<br />
<br />Some of the fake drugs in circulation are used in the treatment of HIV, Schizophrenia and Anemia.  Serostim, a drug that has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of AIDS-related wasting syndrome and weight loss, has been found in two pharmacies in California to be counterfeit in 2001.<br />
<br />In the case of schizophrenia, a drug called Zyprexa has been found to be counterfeit in the states of Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Genuine pills were replaced with white tablets which are actually aspirins.</p>
<p>Schizophrenia is a mental disorder where a person exhibits a deteriorated perception or expression of reality usually manifested through auditory hallucinations, paranoia, bizarre delusions and disorganized speech, reasoning and behavior in the context of social or occupational dysfunction.</p>
<p>Zyprexa is a brand name for a prescription medicine that is approved by the FDA for treating symptoms of schizophrenia, acute mixed or manic episodes of bipolar I disorder and for maintenance treatment in bipolar disorder.</p>
<p>Aside from Epogen, Procrit, a widely prescribed drug used to treat anemia in patients with kidney damage and in cancer patients whose lack of red blood cells results from chemotherapy, are found to have counterfeit versions nationwide.   Levels of the active ingredient in two treatments were discovered to be 20 times lower than what was actually written on the label.</p>
<p>These are only few of the counterfeit prescription medicines that have been discovered by the authorities.  Investigators believe that the worldwide growth of counterfeit and adulterated drug cases in the past decades can be attributed to the increase in sophisticated forged labels, the increase in numbers of small wholesalers buying and reselling medications, and the increasing number of expensive medications that can give forgers large profits.</p>
<p>Manufacturers may not be blamed for the things that happen when the medicines leave their warehouses.  Not much has been written on the mortality connected with these deceptive and murderous trade of counterfeit medicines but  the danger it poses in the lives of people who are already ill cannot be undermined.  In lieu of this morbid scenario, it is imperative that access to safe and effective medications be made available to the general public with the help of proper authorities.</p>
