Anti-Inflammatory Drugs: Relief from (kickboxing workouts) Ashtma

By Josh Mcclure

Life has been a struggle for Karen ever since she was a little girl. She was very allergic to dust mites, pollen coming from trees, and other allergens that seemed to surround her everywhere she went. Growing up did not only mean getting braces for her teeth, growing her hair long, or moving up several sizes. It also meant the daily battle with her own immune system that over-reacted to almost anything microscopic. He body’s anti-allergic response included the secretion of above-normal amounts of fluid in her nostrils and mucus inside her chest. The moment she gets an allergic reaction, her chest would suddenly feel as if a block of cement had been hurled at her. He difficulty of breathing was so severe that should would almost turn blue from lack of oxygen. For most of her childhood and teenage years, she felt miserable about the repeated asthma attacks that almost always happened in public. The difficulty of having asthma was made worse by the embarrassment she had to endure whenever she desperately gasped for air in front of people.

Like Karen, millions of people around the world suffer from asthma. In the United States alone, about 20 million people have been diagnosed with this chronic disease. Of this number of asthma sufferers, nearly nine million are children. An asthma attack affects and produces a constriction of the airways. The airways are the tubes through which air flows in and out of our lungs. The inside walls of these airways are become swollen during an asthma attack. The inflammation of the airways is actually an allergic reaction to microscopic particles Once the inflammation occurs, an asthma sufferer may produce wheezing sounds or may experience excessive coughing.

To date, there is still no cure for asthma but it can be prevented or its symptoms can be managed. One simple way to help prevent asthma is to prevent pollutants and other allergens from proliferating in your home or work environment. Hygiene at home and at the office can help control the spread of viruses and bacteria that may also trigger allergies and other more serious ailments. While there are varying degrees of severity of asthma attacks and sensitivity to “triggering elements”, keeping the surroundings as allergen-free as possible would benefit all asthmatics.

Anti-Inflammatory Drugs To The Rescue

Aside from environmental sanitation, another option to control asthma and its debilitating symptoms is the use of medications. Anti inflammatory drugs are now prescribed for patients who need immediate help in controlling asthma. These anti inflammatory drugs help reduce the swelling of swelling of air passageways and, as a result, prevent wheezing and coughing.

The main types of anti-inflammatory drugs are:

1. Inhaled corticosteroids - Considered as one of the most effective medications to reduce airway inflammation. This drug helps reduces the need for hospitalization and provides better asthma control.

2. Mast cell stabilizers - It works by preventing the release of irritating and inflammatory substances from immune cells called mast cells.

3. Dry powder inhaler - A medication in the form of a dry powder that is administered through a small device called a dry powder inhaler or DPI. This inhaler delivers the medication to the lungs as you inhale through the device. It does not contain propellants and it can be used by young asthmatics starting at age five and up.

4. Nebulizer - This is a device used to administer medication in the form of liquid mist to the air ways. Also known as “atomizers”, the nebulizer is used to pumps air or liquid medicine in vapor form. By inhaling the medicine through the nebulizer, an asthmatic is able to reduce the symptoms of the disease.

Managing your Asthma

To help a patient manage the symptoms of this condition, doctors usually use a tool called Spirometry to diagnose asthma. The tool is also used to evaluate the pulmonary functions of a patient. It also helps the doctor obtain valuable information about the lung condition of an asthma patient. Optimal medication, continuation of normal activities, and the reduction of trips to the hospital are only some of the goals that every doctor want to achieve in treating an asthma patient. Depending on the severity of the condition, the doctor may opt to prescribe anti inflammatory drugs that would prevent attacks that constrict a patient’s breathing.

Asthma is a very uncomfortable condition to deal with, especially on a daily basis. But it should not rob someone out of the joys and happiness of life. Even asthmatics can live relatively normal lives. Through proper medication and allergen management, asthmatics can pursue active, fulfilling lives.

Electromagnetic Frequencies that Zap Your Energy

By Josh Mcclure

Many of us wake up in the morning being attacked by electromagnetic frequencies(EMF’s) from our clock radio which is usually a short distance from our head. If it’s a real cold night, some may even curl up with their electric blanket for another dose of EMF’s. Before leaving the house in the morning we are exposed to more EMF’s from blow dryers, electric shavers, electric tooth brushes, coffee makers and microwaves. On our way to work, we might make a few calls on our cell phone. Once we arrive at the office, we flip on the overhead florescent lights, power up the copier, fax machine, computer and talk on the phone throughout the day. When we go back home, we turn on the TV or stereo, stand in the kitchen and cook dinner while surrounded by all electrical appliances and repeat the same thing all over again the next day. We are constantly being bombarded with electromagnetic frequencies. All electrical devices emit these frequencies. Some experts believe that EMF’s are a real threat and can cause or contribute to cancer, brain tumors, leukemia, birth defects, miscarriages, chronic fatigue, poor immunity, heart problems and stress, as well as zap ones overall energy.

Dr. David Carpenter, Dean at the School of Public Health, State University of New York believes it is likely that up to 30% of childhood cancers come from exposure to EMF’s. Some scientists believe that over exposure to EMF’s are responsible for a high rate of suicide amongst electric utility workers. Researchers at the University of North Carolina believe that EMF’s contribute to the decrease in melatonin levels which in turn can cause sleeplessness, depression and suicide.

Advanced technology is wonderful and I’m certainly not willing to give up modern day conveniences, but there are things that can be done to reduce EMF exposure. There is a devise called a gauss meter. This is helpful; for it measures the amount of EMF’s being emitted from appliances, electronics, power outlets, etc. It is simple to use. When measuring something high in EMF’s, the gauge will register in the red zone and beep. I took a gauss meter through my whole house and office and did a lot of rearranging to minimize exposure. The most amazing thing I found was that my alarm clock emitted EMF’s 5 feet in every direction. I moved it across the room, then I noticed one of my cats was sleeping next to it so I got rid of it altogether and purchased a little battery operated one. It’s the digital display LED type that is high in EMF’s. The TV, which I thought would be the worst, only emitted harmful EMF’s 3 feet out from the front and 5 feet out from the sides. TV Manufactures have really improved on this. The refrigerator was another shocker. It was in the (high) red zone 3 feet out from the front and sides. The oven also measured high. I don’t have a microwave, so I went to a friend’s house and my meter measured EMF’s 5 to 6 feet in every direction when running and 3-4 feet when it was not. All I could think of was all the children standing in front of the microwave oven waiting for their food; day after day. That’s scary. I also wonder what it does to the food. Please keep this in mind when storing nutritional supplements. Keep them away from EMF’s, for it will reduce their potency. My computer also measured very high for a good 3 feet.

There are many things that can be done to minimize exposure. Try not to stay in the kitchen when appliances are in use, especially the microwave. Keep phones and alarm clocks away from your body while sleeping. Avoid sleeping with an electric blanket. Turn it on to warm the bed and then unplug it. Waterbeds that heat the water with electricity are bad news. Position your computer as far away as possible from where you sit. A flat screen monitor reduces EMF exposure. Change all fluorescent lights to incandescent ones. If using a cell phone, try to keep it as far away from your body as possible. Consider an ear piece to use with your cell phone; otherwise the transmitter is only a few inches from your brain.

There are also a variety of products on the market to help reduce the harmful effects of EMF’s such as diodes, special crystals, magnets and pendants. Some are placed directly on the electrical device and others are worn on the body. Of these devices, the Q link pendant is my personal favorite and has undergone many studies and has numerous testimonials on its effectiveness in counteracting the ill effects of harmful EMF’s.

Have a safe and happy summer…and not to worry, for your gas grill is totally free from EMF’s.

Exercise with the hi tech machines

By Bestcrosstrainers

The best sport that some people enjoy and practice hard is sleeping. You cannot blame them because in todays cut throat competition, no-one practically gets time in the weekdays to unwind or catch that much needed nap.

And the weekends are spoilt because we catch up with some sleep and we think we would feel refreshed on a Monday morning. Unfortunately, we still feel that stiffness in our bodies that indicates that we not only need proper rest but it needs regular exercise too.

Since we consider time as a major factor of not hitting the gym or catch up on a jog in the morning; we ought to know about machines that we can put up at our own home and can start exercising.

If you want your machine to be multi-purpose than you better check out cross trainers or elliptical trainers as well and compare it with a traditional tread mill.

On a cross trainer or an elliptical trainer, you can perform cardiovascular exercises apart from the regular jogging. You can also increase the intensity of your work out by adjusting the crow bar or the handle bar.

You also have a forward and a reverse feature on the foot pedals, which you would not find in a treadmill. When you change the incline, you can invariably change the position for your aerobic exercises everyday, and that bored factor would never be your say.

You can visit search engines and choose some reliable merchants when you feel you have the desire to come back in shape with the help of cross trainers or elliptical trainers.

Compare and buy online the varieties of Cross Trainers, elliptical cross trainer, Fitness Elliptical Trainer and many other Cross Trainers Fitness Equipments.
